Do you ever get so mentally drained that you just don’t want to think about ANYTHING anymore?

That’s about where I’m at right now.

Starting up a couple of projects for work on top of a few other projects I have going on is exhausting. ESP when it’s shark week (a.k.a. that time of the month). TMI? Sorrryyyy bout it.

Anyways, I know we all hit those walls sometimes and need to figure out how to get that inspiration back and how to keep on keepin’ on.

Sooo, how do you do it?

I like to do my favorite things- the things that make me the happiest girl in the world.

I LOVE to be outside in the sun with nature.

My ultimate favorite is to head to the beach and just lay there alllll day with some good tunes and great company. Sometimes, I like to go alone and bring a good book and just spend some quality time with myself. It’s seriously one of the best ways to recharge because you can just sit there and not say a word all day.

I also love anything fitness so hikes are another way I can get my inspo back. Working out is so great for the mind and the body so working out outside is killerrrr when it comes to helping you get your inspo back.

There is just something about being outside with nature that is so soothing. You can’t hear any cars, all you can hear are birds chirping and the waves crashing or the trees rustling.

I. LOVE. IT.

Sometimes it’s easier said than done but you gotta take any chance you get to put yourself first. Go do what makes your happiest self because that’s the only way to keep the people around you happy too.

S+F Series: Kickin’ stress to the curb with lavender oil

I am a total stress ball. I’m not really sure why I get stressed or how it even happens. Most of the time I don’t even know I’m stressed/anxious until I get the physical symptoms. + those stink.

Stress IS stupid. + can be unhealthy (some stress is good so make sure you know the difference!).

Stress is also inevitable. Which is why you want to make sure you do things that make you happy + keep you calm. Be proactive + figure those out nowwww. It’s im-por-tan-te.

Stress can cause or increase many different problems including: pain, heart disease, digestive issues, sleep issues, weight issues, depression, autoimmune diseases, + skin conditions.

Ain’t nobody got time for that^^^^

My #1 de-stressor is exercise but sometimes not even that helps so I’ve come up with a few other things that really do help.

A huge one for me is lavender oil. I love to put this on right before bed. I just dab a bit into the palm of my hand + onto my wrists + rub in. Then I put my hands up to my face + inhale slowly a few times.  Use caution here as it can burn the heck outta your nose!

Seriously though, it’s like an automatic relaxant. BAM. You can feel every part of your tense body loosen. It’s one of the bestttt feelings in the world.

Lavender oil has so many other benefits aside from calming you down + helping you sleep. Lavender oil can also be used for bee stings, cuts/burns, eczema, nausea, nosebleeds, chapped skin/lips (why I put in on my hands as well), hay fever, dandruff + cold sores.

I also bought a spritzer to spritz some onto my sheets/pillows. Welcome to total relaxation.

Golden Milk: Anything gold hits a soft spot

Gold is one of my favorite colors. Yes, I know it has nothing to do with this drank but still. I love gold + Golden Milk is even more my favie because of this.

Okay, so it’s more yellow than gold but let a girl fantasize.

When I first heard about Golden Milk, I seriously was not interested (except for the whole obsession with anything gold/golden). Who in their right mind would want to drink Turmeric? Disgusting.

But then I read a little more about turmeric + its amazing health benefits + thought I’d give it a shot.

…++++++++ IT’S AMAZING.

A lot of people put it into their fresh juices + now I see why.

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory meaning it fights foreign objects in the body + aids in damage repair.

Some other benefits (full details here) include: increased antioxidant capacity (fights free radicals), improved brain function, lowers risk of brain disease, lowers risk of heart disease, can help prevent cancer + Alzheimer’s, helps treat arthritis, fights depression, + may help delay aging (sign me up!).

As you can see, this should be another amazing addition to your diet. Healthy minds + healthy bodies are where it’s at.

Golden Milk:

  • Step 1: Turmeric Paste
    • 1/4 cup turmeric powder
    • 1/2 TSP groung black pepper (this helps increase your body’s absorption of Turmeric by 2000%! More here)
    • 1/2 cup filtered water

Mix all ingredients in a small pan + stir well. Turn to med-high heat + stir constantly until it forms into a thick paste. This will only take about 1-2 minutes so don’t go anywhere! You do not want to burn this because it will lead to a majorrrrr cough attack. Let cool + keep in a jar in the refrigerator.

  • Step 2: Golden Milk
    • 1 cup almond milk (REMEMBER: NO CARAGEENAN)
    • 1 TSP coconut oil (remember why we LOVE coconut oil)
    • 1/4 TSP or more of turmeric paste (I use about 1 TSP but start small)
    • honey to taste

Throw all ingredients into a pan except for the honey. Constantly stir over med heat for about 2-3 minutes- just don’t let it boil. Pour into your fav mug + add a lil honey!

Anyone have any variations of this? I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk + left out the honey. Such a tasty treat to wake up to! Or even enjoy before bed. You can’t go wrong with a lil warm milk before sleepy time.

S+F Series: The Real Deal On Coconut Oil

If you haven’t jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon yet, what are you waiting for??? Not only does it taste amazing but there are so many health benefits to it!

Yes, it has a ton of saturated fat BUT it’s the good kind of saturated fat. These types of fatty acids metabolize differently + can have therapeutic effects on brain disorders. As you can see, these are MUCH different from the kind we get in our normal everyday diets.

These fatty acids also kill harmful pathogens, serving as your sidekick in infection butt-kickin’.

Sooo my brother hopped on the coconut oil train a loooongg time ago + totally uses it as sunscreen! He’s a lifeguard at the beach so sunscreen is mandatory. Worked like a charm for him but I have yet to take it that far.

+ we’ve all heard of oil pulling, yes? I have not tried this lil trend as of yet but I hear it’s great for killing off harmful bacteria, fighting bad breath + improving dental health.

One of my favorite morning snacks is a piece of ezekial toast with coconut oil + cinnamon. I also use it in my 5 second jam. + my Golden Milk. + basically anything + everything I can sneak it into. It’s just tooooo goood. I would probably swim in it if I could. No joke.

It’s also the best to cook/bake with! It withstands high heat + doesn’t break down + turn carcinogenic like olive oil can. I love olive oil but only use it on my salads now.
