DIY: Glam Plant Pots

The other day I was grocery shopping at Sprouts and saw all of these adorable house plants. I seriously wanted to take home every single one of them and turn into a plant lady but HUGE prob with that…I can’t keep a plant alive for the life of me. Not even a succulent that can basically survive on its own. I can do a lot of things really well but keeping a plant alive is not one of them.

But I bought one anyway. I am determined to keep one alive and if it works, I can go back and buy some more!

I chose one that requires very little watering and indirect sunlight so it should thrive in my bedroom…I hope (on my hands and knees PRAYING).

And then I made this frickin’ ADORBS plant pot for it.

ceramic pot (I found mine at Michael’s)

acrylic paint

modge podge

painters tape

alphabet stickers in your fave font to spell out your saying

1. Paint your pot white. I used about 2-3 coats.

2. Once your pot is completely dry, tape off a section to glitter.

3. Working in thirds, paint on the modge podge and coat in glitter. Don’t be afraid to get glitter on the paint brush because it will come off. Once this dries, seal with a coat of MP.

4. Modge podge your alphabet stickers and coat in glitter. Once this dries, put another coat of MP on top to seal it.

5. When your pot is completely dry, remove the tape and add your stickers! I used a little bit of E6000 glue on the back because mine were a little thicker and I wanted to make sure they will stay put.

>>>You can totally be creative with this one. Use smaller stickers for a longer saying like, “Messy hair don’t care” or “Feed me”. Have fun with it and choose what suits you!<<<

My plant is a total BABE and she is going to be stylin’ in her new home…as long as she survives.

SHE WILL SURVIVE, SHE WILL SURVIVE, SHE WILL SURVIVE. Maybe if I say it enough times it’ll happen.

If anyone has any tips for me, they would be very much appreciated! I must learn to keep plants alive!

The cutest lil Thanksgiving Pumpkin Placeholders

Holiday season is soooo great! Everyone (errr.. most everyone) gets in the holiday spirit + becomes more jolly + pleasant to be around. We get to spend quality time with friends + family that we don’t see too often. + we get to eat the most delish food! For this year’s Turkey Day, I’ll be making a healthy pumpkin pie for everyone to indulge in. Can’t wait to try it out!

Another thing I love about holidays is the DIY part. I love to decorate + put together new things around the house. It’s such a nice change of scenery.

My mother is the cutest + huge on the whole ‘Thankful Tree’. She puts a new one together every year + at dinner we all write what we are thankful for on a leaf + hang it on the tree. After dinner we go around + read them all. It’s really fun + so cool to see what everyone has to say!

This year I wanted to get crafty with some mini pumpkins (because pumpkin errrrything, am I right?!) so I decided to use them as placeholders!

Mini Pumpkin Placeholders:

  • mini pumpkins
  • gold metallic paint (or color of your choice but I strongly believe in the color gold)
  • paint brush
  • bowl
  • rafia
  • paper for tags
  • glitter
  • glue pen
  • hole punch
  • wax paper

Make sure all of the pumpkins have been wiped off + are clean.

Here is where you get to be your best creative self + do what you want! I poured some paint into a bowl + went to town. I tried to make each one different. Some I loved + some I did not love as much but once you add the tags, it all comes together!

After you finish painting a pumpkin, place it on the wax paper to dry.

Next, make your tags out of any fab paper. I actually found these awesome gift tags at Michael’s so no cutting or whole punching necessary. Lucky me!

I used the glue pen (BEST INVENTION EVER <<< Thanks, Martha!) to write the word with + then covered it in glitter.

I don’t like to be bossy + I hate (with a passion) assigned seating. I think I had some traumatizing experience growing up or somethin’- like I wasn’t ever allowed to sit by my BFFs + we all know that’ll ruin a child. Jkjkjk…kinda.

So instead of using the fam bam’s names, I used words like grateful, blessed, fortunate, lucky, happy, etc. I love this idea because it serves as another reminder to be thankful for one another + the life we’ve been given (hashtag blessed)

After the lil punkins were all dry, I used the rafia to attach the tags + voila!

Super cute, eh?
